In this upscale salon in New York city, the clientele don’t need to be always wealthy to get their hair done. Every Sunday, hair stylist Mark Bustos gives homeless people free haircuts.
Every Sunday which is his only day off at work, Bustos roams around the city searching for those in need of a haircut. According to a report in the Huffington Post, he greets people with a simple sentence — “I want to do something nice for you today”.
On average he’s able to provide cuts to six people and he captures and shares his work on his Instagram account.
Bustos is doing this since he traveled to the Philippines to visit family members in May 2012. He had hired a chair from a barbershop there to provide haircuts to poor children.
“Jemar Banks — I’ll never forget the name,” Bustos told HuffPost. “After offering him a haircut and whatever food he wanted to eat, he didn’t have much to say throughout the whole process, until after I showed him what he looked like when I was done … The first thing he said to me was, ‘Do you know anyone that’s hiring?’”
