Introduction to St Stefan
St Stefan is a small islet and 5-star hotel resort on the Adriatic coast of Montenegro, approximately 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southeast of Budva.
The resort, known commercially as Aman St Stefan, includes part of the mainland, where the Villa Miločer part of the resort is located. An Adriatic playground for the rich and famous from the 1960s to the 1980s. The hotel is now a 5-star franchise hotel of the international group of Aman Resorts, completed in 2009 and operating under a 30-year lease. Formerly an island, St. Stefan is now connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. The resort in total contains 50 rooms, cottages and suites on the island and 8 grand suites at the Villa Miločer.
According to the memory of people, the town was founded in 15th century. The big Turkish fleet sailed into the Adriatic sea to rob and plunder rich seaside towns. Especially those one in Boka. One day, when the weather was bad, that fleet sailed into Jaz beach, a place into bottom of Grbaljsko field, near Kotor.
Guards were left on the galleys, which were anchored or grounded on sand, while the rest of Turkish soldiers set off for Kotor, across Grbaljsko field, to attack and devastate it from the land. When Pastrovics heard about this, they quickly gathered their soldiers and went to Kotor by shortcut to attack Turks and help Kotorans in defense of their town.
After the victory, on their way back, they attacked Turkish galleys at the beach Jaz. With God’s help they managed to kill the rest of Turkish crew and took the conquered galleys to Drobni Pijesak – the beach and the valley where they used to anchored their fisherman’s boats and ships – to unload the war trophies there.
Also despite its size, Montenegro offers a wild beauty rarely seen in modern-day Europe. Steep mountains climb above the coastline and untamed forests cloak the landscape. It’s refreshing, just like Aman St Stefan’s understated brand of luxury.
There are no gaudy colors or ostentatious chandeliers here; just feather-soft beds, enormous rooms and flawless white linens dressing solid wood beds. It all draws focus to the bewitching coastal setting, where kids can play on the beach, busy-bees can unwind in the spa, and romantics can sail the Adriatic at sunset.
